Women’s health compounding is the process of preparing a medication to a specific strength, dosage form, or combination of active ingredients as ordered by a licensed prescriber for an individual patient. Commercial products are manufactured in fixed doses and limited delivery forms. Compounding allows a prescriber to request a preparation that fits what a specific patient needs, such as a different concentration of estradiol cream, a vaginal suppository instead of a tablet, or a combination of hormones in a single topical application.
MediVera operates as a 503A compounding pharmacy. Compounding is appropriate when a commercially available product is unavailable, unsuitable for a patient due to a documented clinical need, or when a prescriber determines customization is warranted for that patient’s care. It is not a pathway around FDA-approved therapies. Every compounded medication MediVera prepares is dispensed only on a valid prescription from a licensed healthcare provider.

PCAB (Pharmacy Compounding Accreditation Board) is a voluntary national accreditation program administered through the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). It sets quality and safety standards for compounding pharmacies that go beyond basic state licensing. PCAB accreditation requires pharmacies to meet standards for sterility testing, quality control, facility design, personnel training, and documentation.
