Our Story
MediVera Compounding Pharmacy™ (formerly known as University Compounding Pharmacy) is a family business founded by Joe McCloskey. At the time, he owned a retail pharmacy. He loved caring for patients but had become frustrated with the way chain stores and drug companies did not tailor to individual patient needs.
Convinced there was a need for a compounding pharmacy that specialized in providing quality customized medications to his customers at affordable prices, Joe started MediVera Compounding Pharmacy™ (formerly known as University Compounding Pharmacy) in 1999. Getting the levels right, ensuring quality and potency, and developing a better order and fulfillment workflow: it was a lot of work but rewarding.
MediVera Compounding Pharmacy™ (formerly known as University Compounding Pharmacy) grew quickly, soon developing a reputation for being the best in the business, especially when it comes to hormone therapies. MediVera Compounding Pharmacy™ (formerly known as University Compounding Pharmacy) achieved the prestigious PCAB Accreditation in both sterile and non-sterile compounding, certifying that it maintains the highest ethical and quality standards. While the American Medical Association (AMA) recommends only using PCAB-accredited compounding pharmacies, just 1% of pharmacies meet its rigorous standards.
In the Spring of 2017, MediVera Compounding Pharmacy™ (formerly known as University Compounding Pharmacy) moved into an expansive new facility that houses state-of-the-art laboratories for our sterile and non-sterile preparations. Every part of our operation complies with USP 795 and 797 regulations. We will also comply with USP 800 regulations when they become effective. We do all this to assure our customers that their safety and the quality of their medications are our number one priority.
Today, MediVera Compounding Pharmacy™ (formerly known as University Compounding Pharmacy) remains family-owned. Joe’s son, Brad, owns and manages the business. He continues the tradition that his father started nearly 20 years ago. By offering unparalleled customer service alongside our high-quality reputation, we will continue to expand our reach and provide what’s most important of all: Helping One Patient at a Time Live Their Best Life.
